A 12-year-old French girl found a creative solution to how to deal with the theodicy problem*: Revenge. The little girl’s sister died in a car accident. As, obviously, god did not protect her sister, in contrast to what she was told, the girl tried to burn down a church. And not only once. After her first attempt, distributing wax on the church’s floor and trying to set it on fire, failed, she tried again at the altar. In total, she made four attempts until she was discovered. Luckily, they all did not lead to substantial damage. Sure, god knows how to protect his house.
I can only hope that she will soon find out that there is not mighty man in the sky protecting anybody. Then, though, she can still be angry at the people who taught her this nonsense. But please, setting fire is no solution. Better start an atheist blog or so.
*: Also known as the “problem of evil”. The paradox how an all-mighty, good and kind god can allow all the suffering and bad things to be in the world.

Phew … I don’t know how to start. At noon today a man shot his wife in a street next to our apartment. My wife was at home, learning for her final exam, when she heard the shots. Soon after, everything was full of police. This happened only about one hundred meters away.
He ambushed her when she returned to her apartment (they were living apart). When she arrived with her aunt he shot at the car, killing his wife. Afterwards, as it seems to be usual, he killed himself. They both were only 32, there must have been another solution to murder, even if they were completely at odds with each other. You can start a new life at this age. They always call this a family tragedy in the news. As if this would explain anything. How can anybody turn into such a sick swine? Oh, I should also mention that they had two kids, who were in the house next door.
It are always men who kill their families. Something goes awry in this society. Maybe it has to do with people growing into relationships, but not growing up in their relationships. One of the kids is 13 years old. So they got it with 18 or 19. At this age you probably are not adult enough for a long lasting, positive relationship. But who knows… It might be that my subjective impression is wrong, but cases like this seem to occur regularly by now. Who knows how many similar cases there are per year, most are reported only regionally. And where do they get the damned weapons? Next time somebody tries to explain to me why we do not need more strict weapons regulations I will vomit in his face.
